Baby elephants and everyday robots

Hey! Mr Tembo

“If you're lonely
press play”

I've been listening to this:

The upbeat song Mr Tembo is a song about a baby elephant. Tembo is Swahili for elephant, if the reviews are to be believed.

Asked whether Mr Tembo liked his song, Damon Albarn said that he'd sung it to him only once, and “to be honest, he shat himself”. Not in a bad way. However, milk-fed baby elephant pooh is, apparently, both very white and just as copious as you'd imagine, and “quite something to see”.

I find myself, recently, although in general listening to a wide range of music, gravitating to the clear, sparse, and unusual instrumentation of albums like this. Enjoying the different percussion and the low-key, reflective nature of the material.
