Kiz got me these father's day 'shrooms...
...this is incredible. These are the second crop. Just look at the size of these bad boys, all grown from...er...whatever 'shrooms grow from. Seeds? Spores? Baby 'shrooms? Eggs?
They grow on waste. Coffee grounds. Stuff that would normally be thrown away. Apparently, we're missing a trick bunging coffee grounds down the sink, and we should be giving them to the already unmanageably huge plants dotted around the house, so that they can grow bigger still.
The crops have been totally different. The first one comprised millions of stems and caps, and I harvested them early, fearing a collapse when growth really accelerated and the daily doubling in size promised materialised. I wasn't cruel about it, snatching the babies. I'm not, after all, a catholic nun (are all nuns catholic?). They were never going to get much bigger, because the space was just so overcrowded.
Crop two: three or four giant monsters.
Both crops have tasted delicious, and according to the instructions, it's worth going for a third crop. It may not materialise, but for soaking the packet in water for a bit, then waiting a week, it has to be worth a chance.
