Just the zombies, gremlins and flesh-eating aliens to come, then

Some more T20 cricket

This time with DLL, and MM. Back in the cheap seats. Once again Sky were at the game, so there was the big screen, and all the usual frills a televised game brings.

I'm a sucker for all that. Razzmatazz, I believe it's called, in the bums on stadia seats trade. Bring it on, guys. I'll take all the razzmatazz you have to offer.

[A confession. I had that down as “razamataz” and was ignoring the red squiggly line, then thought “I wonder what the UK LibreOffice dictionary will come up with?” So I right-clicked and there it was. Double-zeds, and no 'a' between the razz and the matazz.]

T20 cricket is an absolute work of genius, and should be celebrated for the thing of beauty it is. In stark contrast to some other stuff that's going on at the moment.

Bombing schools and kids

Here's another in the endless reasons to withhold your vote until something less cowardly and evil than politicians is available to vote for.

America (and probably us too):    Subsidise the arms industry? What do you take us for? That'd be beyond the worst thing ever! No! We'd never do that.

An inconvenient question: But you do 'donate' money to Israel?

America: Er [guessing where this may be going]...yes, yes we do.

Another inconvenient question: And that money you donate, is it earmarked for military spending?

America: Yep.

Yet another inconvenient question
: That earmarked military spending-money. Is it also ringfenced for military spending on arms manufactured by American companies?

America: Yes. But they can turn down the donation, and therefore it does not, repeat does not, constitute a subsidy for the arms industry.

Technically, not a direct subsidy. Technically, they're well in the clear. However, there's billions of dollars in 'aid', 'grants' and written-off loans, being handed over thanks to the US taxpayers, to an already-rich country.

According to soaring intellects like Tone (son of Mags) the average Joe like me can't grasp the complexities of the situation, and shouldn't oversimplify things.

According to Joe Ordinary, there's genuine complexity, and there's political, religious and business obfuscation and deliberate obscurity (see the lead-up to the global financial crisis for some great examples). What we have here, soaring intelects, is the latter.

Penny Dreadful

So confusing that we've reached the end of the first season, and I hadn't realised that that was the case. I'm just waiting for the aliens, zombies, Predators and Gremlins to enter stage left, to make things complete.
