We found a new bulb for the fridge
in Sainsbury
15 Watt, 230 Volt Fridge Bulb. That's
what it said on the packaging. That's pretty confident, isn't it? Not
“Bulb for Certain Makes of Fridge” or “One Fridge Bulb (Of
Many)”. Just Fridge Bulb. So we bought one, for the fridge, and
another to replace the burnt-out one in DLL's light up globe, despite
it not being a perfect match.
Good news: the globe now lights up. Not
a huge triumph by any normal measure, but in these parts right now,
it's the equivalent of at least an FA Cup semi-final.
Bad news, after a lot (way too much for
the degree of difficulty the task actually needs to represent) of
fiddling about, the cover popped off the fridge lamp.
The Fridge Bulb manufacturer's
confidence was unfounded. Not a small halogen, but a big (well,
bigger, anyway) fluorescent lamp. A bad moment.
Then...
...a good moment, as a slight joggle
and the existing bulb lit back up.
Time to quickly reassemble the cover,
before it changed it's mind.
If the house looks better...
DLL asked, with decorations up, why do
we take them down?
I don't have an answer for that.
Indeed, if houses look better with
decorations all over them, why only decorate them for a few weeks
them stow everything in the loft?
Comedy value, BLISS, comedy value
ME: I'll just see if I can find an
internet stream for the Forest v West Ham game.
BLISS: Why?
ME: (Imagining Big Sam's facial
expressions if (when, please make it when) it all goes badly wrong
against lower league opposition) for the comedy value, if nothing
else.
BLISS: Exit left, eyebrow raised.
Comedy value
You couldn't've hoped for a five-nil
thrashing. Could you? Well I couldn't, but that was comic. Poor Fat
Sam just looked defeated, like a sort of depressed, part-deflated
Jabba the Hutt, with Princes Lela escaped and all his wealth stolen.
Nothing against West Ham, not
personally, but they're now miles away from the side that stuck to
their principles and played good football no matter what, and they've
not been that team for more than ten years.
